Personal Statement:
What happens to us at times, may need support from others to strengthen our resilience and coping. Understanding how our brain is linked to our responses and how to reshape our thinking can be a key part of our healing journey.
I use a polyvagal informed lens in my practice to discuss the language of the nervous system. I also apply principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Attachment Theory while working individuaully with late adolescents and adults. I approach counselling from a relational and strength based perspective and understand the importance of relationships for health, well-being and a sense of safety.
Being connected to a counsellor who is the right fit for you is key when you are looking for support. I offer a broad range of experience from my work in a variety of counselling and management positions. I have been a previous part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier University and I am currently on faculty at McMaster University as an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor and Co-Chair of Professional Competencies in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.
