Considering an Intern Therapist at Glebe Counselling?
Why Choose an Intern Therapist?
Intern therapists at Glebe Counselling are graduate-level students in the final year of their Master’s degree in psychotherapy. They are completing 125 clinical hours under the close guidance of three certified clinical supervisors and the Glebe Associate Therapist. This means you receive thoughtful, attentive care supported by a full clinical team.
Clients often find intern therapists to be:
- Warm, collaborative, and deeply committed
- Highly reflective and eager to learn
- Up-to-date on current therapeutic approaches
- Able to offer reduced-fee sessions while maintaining high standards of care
Our Training Approach
Interns are trained in an integrated model of psychotherapy, blending:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Psychodynamic Therapy
Rather than relying on a single method, interns learn to develop a personalized, responsive, and holistic approach to your care.
What Clients Can Work On
Intern therapists are trained to support a wide range of mental health concerns, including:
- Trauma and overwhelming experiences
- Interpersonal and relational struggles
- Life transitions and periods of change
- Emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and low mood
- Substance use concerns
- Eating and body-image challenges
- Stress, burnout, and overwhelm
Supervision & Quality Assurance
Your care is supported by a team-based supervision model that includes:
- Weekly individual supervision
- Dyadic supervision (two interns with one supervisor)
- Group supervision
- Ongoing consultation with the Glebe Associate Therapist
This ensures that every client benefits from multiple layers of clinical insight, ethical oversight, and professional guidance.
