Luther/Glebe Student Care Program

Supporting Student Mental Health Across the Tri-Cities

Across the Tri-City region, more than 100,000 post-secondary students are working hard to build their futures — yet many face overwhelming mental health challenges. It is estimated that 10% of students will withdraw from their programs due to mental health concerns.

Campus counselling services do their best, but most offer only 3–6 sessions, often with long waitlists. Many students simply cannot access or afford the ongoing therapy they need.

A Model That Removes Barriers to Care

Luther/Glebe Student Care was created to ensure students receive timely, longer-term support — not just a few sessions, and not after months of waiting.

Our model provides:

  • Access within 24 hours, ensuring students receive help when they need it most.
  • Longer-term therapy, allowing students to continue care for as long as clinically appropriate.
  • On-site medical support, including access to a physician for medication review when needed.

In 2025, the Delton Glebe Counselling Centre, under Luther University College, delivered over 2,100 clinical hours of student care.

A Sustainable, Community-Supported Funding Model

To keep care accessible:

  • Students pay just $35 per session.
  • The Student Care program covers the additional $30, funded entirely through generous community and corporate donations.

This model is strengthened by Luther’s graduate internship program. Master’s-level interns — supervised through individual, dyadic, and group supervision — provide high-quality care while gaining essential clinical experience. This not only expands capacity today but strengthens the region’s mental health workforce for the future.

Why Your Support Matters

This is a joint effort between Luther University College and the Delton Glebe Counselling Centre — and it is only possible through the support of donors across the Tri-Cities.

Your contribution directly funds therapy sessions for students who would otherwise go without care.

Your Impact

  • $30 — Covers the donor-supported portion of one student session.
  • $300 — Provides ten sessions, enough to support a student through a full course of therapy.
  • $3,000 — Supports a full course of therapy for 10 students.

Every dollar you give expands access to mental health care for students who are struggling, isolated, or at risk of leaving school. Your generosity ensures that cost is never a barrier to healing.

Together, We Can Support Students Who Need Us Most

Your donation strengthens a model that is accessible, sustainable, and deeply needed in our community. With your help, students can stay in school, stay supported, and stay hopeful.
