History

The Delton Glebe Counselling Centre—named in honour of Dr. Delton Glebe, former Principal-Dean and Professor at Martin Luther University College—carries forward his legacy of compassionate, community-rooted mental health care.

Established in 2013, the Centre operates as a student and community-based clinical service of Martin Luther University College, a school with a long history of academic excellence and a proud federation with Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. The Luther campus sits directly beside Laurier’s Waterloo campus, creating a shared educational and community environment.

Accessible,
High-Quality Care

As a non-profit mental health agency, the Glebe Counselling Centre is committed to accessible, high-quality care. It serves the Tri-City region with a dual mission:
  • Provide timely, affordable mental health services, and
  • Train the next generation of therapists through a rigorous internship model.

Internship Program

Glebe Counselling is home to both professional therapists and a robust Internship Program. Graduate students from Martin Luther University College’s psychotherapy programs and the Master of Social Work program at Wilfrid Laurier University complete their clinical practicum at the Centre. Under the supervision of certified clinicians, interns receive individual, dyadic, and group supervision while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive, integrated clinical environment.
By combining professional expertise with supervised training, Glebe Counselling expands the region’s mental health capacity and ensures that students and community members have quick access to affordable, high-quality care. This model strengthens the mental health system today while preparing skilled therapists for tomorrow.
