Featuring Cheryl Vanderveen, A.R.C.T., B.S.W., M.S.W., RSW
Cheryl Vanderveen has extensive experience in Social Work, with a focus on geriatrics and dementia support. She has also provided Psychotherapy in health care settings for both younger adults and adults over 65. Her research on the administration of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments has been published in the Canadian Social Work Journal. Currently, she is involved in research on stroke education and suicide prevention.
Cheryl teaches at King’s University College and is passionate about increasing knowledge and service improvement.

October 2024 marks the 11th anniversary of the Delton Glebe Counselling Centre! This year’s topic is:
“Changing the Narrative, Start a Conversation:
Considerations for Silent Strokes and the Suicide Risk Assessment Inventory“
and our speaker is
Cheryl Vanderveen, A.R.C.T., B.S.W., M.S.W., RSW.
Cheryl has held various Social Work roles, predominantly with a focus on geriatrics. Her employment experience includes work in dementia support and education. She has also provided Psychotherapy in a health care setting for younger adults and adults over 65. Her qualitative research article, published in the Canadian Social Work Journal (2019), highlighted best practices for supporting the frail elderly in rural settings. The administration of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments was explored.
Cheryl teaches part-time at King’s University College, London, on a contractual basis in the Social Work program. She is currently involved in research and analysis regarding stroke education and suicide prevention.
