Art Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a series of ever changing patterns and behaviours. Those diagnosed often struggle with making and maintaining healthy relationships with others as well as struggling to identify a true perspective of themselves.
Art Therapy offers the ability to safely externalize and process overwhelming thoughts, feelings and emotions. This is beneficial to those with BPD because it allows the individual refuge from overwhelming feelings of negativity and allows them to begin to build a new and more accurate self-perspective. Additionally, working with an Art Therapist aids the Borderline Personality Client client to express what or how they are feeling in a particular moment; through the use of controlled or regressive mediums, allowing for a full range of expression from the gentlest of memories to the harshest of anxieties.
What is Art Therapy
Art Therapy is an outward creative expression of inner thoughts, feelings or emotions which is facilitated by an experienced art therapist who helps make meaning of the art piece you created.
